Car Insurance Saab (Car Insurance). I'm looking to a 2nd subwoofer. But It has to be punchy and SPL?I'm looking to a 2nd subwoofer. But It has to be punchy and SPL? I just recently purchases a used JL W7 12" for $300 with a box. I am going to put the sub in my ported box. I love the lows that the sub hits, BUT I listen to a lot of metal and the sub doesn't punch much. SO what I am looking for is a 2nd subwoofer 12" that will be really punchy. FI Audio - They recommended there "FI Q" & "FI SSD" (dual 2 ohm coils) - Pros less expensive than the JLs, have a higher decibel rating. Con I have to wait for them to finish there new models, but that's ok. Because I am still saving. Price about $284 per sub and there is no info yet on there "SSD" model. DD Audio - 2500 series dual 2 ohm voice coils. $400 a piece so pretty pricey Soundstream - T6 12s Cerwin Vega - The stroker dual 2 ohm coils. $400 a pair so pretty pricey. These seem nice. But are they loud along with their high quality? Phoenix Gold - Ti 12 inch dual 2 ohm. $270 a pair. Pros these are long throws. So the bass should be deep? But will it punch nice? Con. He said my box is slightly too big. Rockford Fosgate - T1D212. $250 a piece. Will these be loud? He said this woofer will work fine. I have contacted about 10-15 car audio names and have given them my box specifications and asked which one of there subwoofers will work best. I want it to be loud. With 2 12s @ 880 watts RMS @ 4 ohms per subwoofer. By the way. My box is 2 cubic feet per subwoofer. Each sub gets 2 cubic feet and a slot port that measures 1.5"wide x 10.5" long by 13.5" deep and the box is tuned to 37 hertz. The current woofers I am replacing are 2 12 inch dual 2 ohm Power Acoustik Mofos. I want something better. They were great subs for my 1st system. My car can handle the load to. I have a 90 amp alternator, a XS power D3400 and a Yellowtop D31A. I run @ 13.7 volts with my music all the way up right now. I only listen to music occasionally. So that is plenty of power. Despite what you might think. I need the subs to work with a 4 ohm load of the amps too. Now because of JLs name and price. It makes me feel like they are the loudest and best. But that may not be true. That is why I need your help. Which subs should I pick? Can you give me a top 3 that would sound their best or close in my box? Don't worry about price. HERE ARE THE CHOICES THAT THE COMPANY REPLIED TO ME AND SAID WOULD WORK. BUT HOW WELL WILL THE WORK? SOME OF THE COMPANIES SAID THE BOX IS A LITTLE OFF. WILL THAT BE A PROBLEM? I dont know why you think you need us. You've done all the research. However, here's my thoughts: stick with another JL speaker if you already have a JL speaker. Otherwise you might deal with bass cancellation. (If one speaker can go lower than the other or if they are set at 2 different frequencies). Do not go with a Boss Amp, they are second rate and will not power these speakers the way you want them to. Go with a name brand like Hi Fonics, Kicker or Rockford Fosgate. Your alternator is designed just to run your car and honestly at only 90 AMPs, your going to be pushing it to the limits adding any amp. If you want it to sound loud and are serious about that, you need constant 14 V power to the amp and that may only happen from a HO alternator. The more power in, the more power out. Saab . How to Get the Air Out of a Volkswagon Beetle Cooling SystemOccasionally, a Volkswagen Beetle may overheat. If this is a common occurrence, it may mean that the car's cooling system needs to be refilled. However, you can't refill the cooling system by just pouring in new coolant, as this will trap air bubbles in the system. You need to get the air out of a Volkswagen Beetle's cooling system to stop the engine from overheating and successfully refill the coolant reservoirs. Difficulty:Moderately Challenging Instructions Things You'll Need Vacuum assist tool (such as Johnson AirLift Coolant Filling Kit) Air compressor 1 gallon of new coolant Bucket 2 1-gallon empty water jugs Petroleum jelly Step by Step : 1 Pour 1 gallon of coolant into the bucket. Mix with 1 gallon of clean water. Empty the mixture of coolant and water into the empty water jugs. 2 Plug the air compressor into a power source. Connect one end of the vacuum assist tool to the air compressor. 3 Rub petroleum jelly on the cone-shaped plug of the vacuum assist tool. Insert the coated plug into the Volkswagen Beetle's coolant reservoir. The petroleum jelly helps seal the edges of the plug to prevent any air from escaping or entering the reservoir. 4 Turn on the compressor and allow the vacuum assist tool to suction the coolant system. Watch the vacuum assist tool's gauge to ensure that the pressure remains at 2 atmospheres. This will get any trapped air out of the Volkswagen Beetle's cooling system. 5 Insert the filter end of the vacuum assist tool into the first jug of water and coolant. Open the vacuum plug to allow the coolant mixture to pour into the reservoir. When the jug is empty, restore the vacuum plug and insert the filter end of the tool into the second jug. Allow this jug to empty into the reservoir, too. The cooling system now has a fresh mixture of coolant without any trapped air bubbles. ResourcesBuy a AirLift Coolant Filling Kit on Amazon
Saab . How to Purge Air from an Auto's Cooling SystemIf you have air bubbles in your auto's cooling system, you will notice a decrease in performance in both the temperature controls inside the cabin of the car and in the cooling of the engine, which may lead to overheating. You may also notice a bubbling sound coming from your air system. When it comes to trapping air, Nissans are some of the worst offenders. The safest way to purge air from your car's cooling system is to flush the system. Difficulty:Moderate Instructions Things You'll Need Radiator fill funnel kit Rag Distilled water Coolant Step by Step : 1 Purchase a radiator fill funnel kit. The funnel kit will allow you to safely fill your radiator without spills on the engine. 2 Locate the radiator fill port. In most vehicles, this port is located toward the front of the engine. It will be covered by a large cap that is either black or silver. The cap will likely have a sticker on top with a warning not to remove it while it is hot. If you need help finding the port, look in your owner's manual. There should be a detailed diagram of your engine. 3 Place the funnel in the radiator fill port. Use a rag to open the port. If you have had the car on, the cap will be hot. 4 Fill the funnel with a 50/50 mix of water and coolant. Coolant can be purchased in the auto department of stores like Wal-Mart or in auto stores. Use distilled water. Well water or tap water can contain chemicals that will damage your system. 5 Let an entire funnel of the mixture run through the system. Liquid is heavier than air, so this will force the air pockets out of the system. 6 Watch the funnel. When you first put the water and coolant mixture in, air bubbles will come up into the funnel as the mixture finds air pockets inside. Once the air pockets are gone, the air bubbles should stop. 7 Turn the car on and put the defroster on high. When the defroster starts blowing out hot air, the water and coolant mixture has spread through the core of your cooling system. *ku v a diesel vehicle, be sure to choose one that allows you to do most of the maintenance yourself, without requiring a great deal of time, money, or skill. Check the owner's manual and talk to diesel mechanics to be sure that the oil is easy to change, because you're going to have to change it quite often. Also make sure that the oil, air, and fuel filters are easy to reach and change, and that you can bleed and prime the fuel system easily. Before you buy the vehicle, make the dealer show you where all these items are located and what you must do to maintain them. What makes it yo The basic difference between a diesel engine and a gasoline engine is that in a diesel engine, the fuel is not ignited by an outside power source like a spark plug, nor is it mixed with air in a carburetor. Instead, the fuel is sprayed into the combustion chamber through a fuel injector nozzle, just when the air in the chamber has been placed under such great pressure that it's hot enough to ignite the fuel spontaneously. (You can find more information about diesel fuel later in this chapter.) Most conventional engines have compression ratios of around 8:1, which means that the volume of each cylinder is eight times larger with the piston at the bottom of the cylinder than with the piston at the top of the cylinder. Diesel engines may employ compression ratios of above 20:1. Because of this fact, and the fact that the compressed air can reach very high temperatures, diesel engines must be built for greater strength and endurance. (See Figure 7-1.) 343

They have also designed a variety of heaters to help get things going in extremely cold weather. (See "Getting started on a frosty morning" later in this chapter.) Porsche 928. * Figure 7-1: Governor A diesel engine. Fuel injection pump Here's a step-by-step view of what happens when you start up a diesel-powered vehicle. The details may vary from one car to another, but the action remains pretty much the same. (It might be fun to compare this description with the short overview of how conventional engines work in Chapter 4.) 1. When you first turn the key in the ignition, you're asked to wait until the engine builds up enough heat in the cylinders for satisfactory starting. (Most vehicles have a little light that says, "Wait," but a sultry computer voice may do the same job on some vehicles.) When you turn the key, the glow plugs kick in and begin to warm up the air in the cylinders. (See Figure 7-2.) Usually, you don't have to wait long — probably no more than half a minute in moderate weather. Developments in glow plugs have dramatically reduced starting time. 136 Saab . When you see this light, you step on the accelerator and turn the ignition key to "Start." 3. Fuel pumps deliver the fuel from the fuel tank to the engine. On its way, the fuel passes through a couple of fuel filters (see Figure 7-3) that clean it before it can get to — and clog up — the fuel injector nozzles (see Figure 7-4). Proper maintenance of these filters is especially important in diesels, because fuel contamination can clog up the tiny holes in the injector nozzles. 4. Saab .
